Installing DigiNet <ripped from TerraNet>
<------------------------------------------->
Setting Up DigiNet:
-------------------
1. Make sure you have a copy of the latest WWIV network software. At
the moment, it's NET34.
2. Unzip NETxx into your main WWIV directory.
3. Create a directory off your main WWIV directory for your DigiNet
data files. I suggest using DigiNet.
4. Unzip DIGINET.ZIP into your DigiNet data directory.
5. In your DigiNet directory, create a file called CALLOUT.NET. Put
the following in it:
@xxxx & ; ^ ""
This line should be left justified (all the way to the left). Also,
replace xxxx with whatever node you are connecting with. Refer to
WWIVNET.DOC from NETxx.ZIP for other CALLOUT.NET options.
6. Now we must actually install DigiNet into WWIV. Load up INIT.
-*- WWIV v4.21a or higher
Hit 'N' from the main INIT menu. If this is your first network,
modify listing number 1. Otherwise, insert a new network. The
network listing should appear like this:
Network name : DigiNet
Node number : Node number assigned to you
Data Directory : DigiNet\
You should make note of what network number DigiNet is setup
as on your system. Let me illustrate:
1 . WWIVnet @xxxx WWIVNET\
2 . DigiNet @xxxx DigiNet\
WWIVnet is network #0 on this system. DigiNet is network #1.
The numbering starts at 0. So subtract 1 from whatever number
DigiNet is listed at. Keep this information written down.
Exit INIT.
7. While in your main WWIV directory, type "NETWORK3 Y". If you are
running NET32+ and WWIV v4.21a or higher, you may use "NETWORK3 Y .#",
where the # is the network number you wrote down earlier in the
installation.
8. Now you should have everything set up properly. Log onto your board
and do //NET. Look and see if DigiNet appears, and check that your
system is listed for DigiNet.
9. If everything is set up properly, you should subscribe to your first
DigiNet sub! Since the DigiNet SysOps Sub is required for all
nodes, go into BOARDEDIT and add this sub:
Sub Name: National SysOps Sub
Sub Type: SYSOP
Sub Host: 1
Please note that this sub does not allow taglines.
10. Enjoy the network!
